What conditions/medications will prevent me from getting tattooed?
Â
(i am constantly doing research to learn about new medications and conditions, your safety will always be my primary concern. if you are on any medications currently and feel unsure, i advise you to check the side effects or ask your doctor prior to scheduling an appointment.)
IT IS BEST TO NOT GET TATTOOED if you are on any of these types of medications or have any of these conditions. I WILL require you to speak to your doctor if i feel unsure about the safety of tattooing you with certain conditions.
- ANY blood thinners or anticoagulants, including Lexapro
- antibiotics- you need to be off them for at least 2 weeks prior to your appointment.
- ANY acne oral medications to help heal acne or skin conditions- Accutane, Doxycycline
- any medication that may reduce your white blood cell count- Mavenclad
- i cannot tattoo you if you are nursing or pregnant
- if you have any visible rash or skin condition in the area to be tattooed
- if you have an active case of shingles you cannot get tattooed. the trauma can cause a shingles breakout.
- people who are diabetic- it is best to NOT get lower extremities tattooed
- if your skin bruises easily or you have very thin, delicate skin
- if you are badly sunburned and/or have peeling skin in the area to be tattooed
- CBD and THC act as anticoagulants, please avoid taking before your appointment.
- AVOID- aspirin and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen (Motrin IB, Advil, others) and naproxen sodium (Aleve), thin the blood and decrease blood clotting
- Anastrazole (for treatment of breast cancer) blocks estrogen which affects skin collagen production and elasticity.
- if you are on blood pressure medication please know the risks- it is possible that you can swell and bleed more than what's considered normal- including Spironolactone
- AVOID- excessive caffeine
